Description

My first foray into editing fog in via gimp! I was inspired by :iconnetherstray:'s edit of my Maria photo, her edit of my Lisa picture from yesterday, and by Steven's kind comments on my Lisa photos lately, so I wanted to see what fog edited onto this picture would do. It is not as believable as hers of course, but I edited it 3 different ways and I was happiest with this one. The photo by itself was very boring, and too bright for SH, but I think that this edit makes it a bit more believable. I've been playing with fog editing in my other Maria/James pictures and I might add those at some point on here because I think it makes them look more SH-y than the ones I have. Admittedly I've noticed the fog makes details on the costumes harder to see, so I think it is a trade off between game accuracy and costume accuracy.

I think the fog looks good and doesn't take away from the costume too much. You are standing in fog after all. One thing that seems a little natural is that the fog isn't obscuring the background the further it goes. It's all just one visual opacity over the image. Fog usually gets harder to see through the further away it is. It's really noticeable back in the upper left hand corner where the sun can be shining through a gap in the leaves. For good reference on fog google "foggy forest" I just did and there are some cool pictures showing exactly what I mean. This is a great photo though! I hope this helps!
